“No no, I’d completely forgotten about that. I’ll have to get you back later,” Jim said with a smirk as he admired his handiwork. Short, busty, waifish build, punky collar, and strikingly shiny hair and tail. This Rarity-inspired form he’d chosen for Rick was perfect. “Not bad for a first-time wand user, eh?” he said.
“So let me get this straight,” Rick the unicorn girl said skeptically. “In order to sneak into St. Cici’s School for Girls, you turned me into… a furry?”
“A pony, not a furry,” Jim corrected his transformed friend. “Totally different, trust me.”
“Uh-huh. And I’m supposed to waltz into the locker rooms and swipe some seniors’ underthings like this?”
“You wear it well, bro,” Jim dodged.
“Explain the furry part again?”
“Pony! Try to stay on track, Rick. Those scholastic babes in there are about to graduate and head into the real world, so naturally they’ll be drawn to anything that can remind them of the sweet, care-free times when they were younger and had no responsibilities.”
“Shovel harder,” Rick rolled his purple eyes.
“No no, I’m serious! Plus you look absolutely adorable! Not only will they want to hug you and pet you and be extra affectionate, they’ll practically throw their panties and bras at you. Anything you ask, they’d do it for you, you cutesy-wootsy widdle yoonicorn babyface!” he teased, reaching up and squishing Rick’s chalk-white cheeks with the wand-less hand.
“Not buying it,” Rick said, eyebrow twitching at the insulting invasion of his personal space. Especially in this disguised body Jim was foisting on him.
“Relax, buddy,” Jim said, swishing the wand behind his back and out of view. “You know you can trust me.”
“I… know I can trust you,” Rick said, gradually believing the words as they came out of his mouth.
“All my ideas are great,” Jim continued as he swirled the magical instrument, “and you’d do anything I say because we’re friends, right?”
“All your ideas are great… I’d do anything you say… because we’re friends…” Rick droned, eyelids sinking until it looked like he was about to doze off standing up.
“Great! I knew I could count on you, buddy!” Jim said, ceasing his spellcasting and slapping Rick’s tiny shoulder appreciatively. It knocked his friend back to full awareness. “So just walk in there like you own the place, try to look lost and cute, and if anyone asks, introduce yourself as Princess Prissy-Pants of Equestria. Say something about your loyal subjects turning into humans and needing to borrow human clothing or something.”
“Uh, okay, I guess…” Rick said, trying to grapple with the absurdity of this plan. “What are you going to do, wait out here?”
“Nah, I’ll be right behind you,” Jim said. Before Rick could ask, Jim raised the wand and twirled it over his head. Glittering sparkles descended and faded from view… and so did Jim!
“What the- why can’t I be invisible?” Rick asked, reaching out to feel for his cloaked friend’s presence.
“Because,” Jim’s disembodied voice explained as he dodged the searching hand, “It would look weird if all those doors just flew open on their own and phantom footsteps rang out down the halls, wouldn’t it? So quit stalling and let’s get in there!”
“Hey, quit shoving!” Rick protested, turning and twisting to get Jim’s hands off his shoulders. “I’m going, already! Sheesh.”
“One more thing after this is over, Rick,” Jim said as they approached the ornate front entrance to the sumptuously designed university building. “Before we change you back, how about letting me get a feel? You know, as a favor to your good buddy?”
“… fine, but don’t get any ideas,” Rick assented, wondering why he put up with Jim and his demands before deciding that it was worth it because Jim always had great ideas. Besides, at the end of the day he’d just do anything Jim asked because they were friends, and Rick knew he could trust him.
