@Starshine
Eventually, yes. We’d like to give it a short bit before opening applications given everyone is “new” here, as is everything. If you’re already active on derpi then that might speed things up a bit, but still likely a few weeks before we’d start on that.

Thanks for pointing that out, should be sorted now. If you see any other issues please do let us know.
@DroolingDreamer
And yes, the name is meant as a reference to the Luna’s nightmare construct, seeing as so many other ai related sites and services really ham up the whole “dream” thing as much as they can.
@Background Pony #0B6C
It’s not intended to be a ghetto, just more permissive.
Looks to be a bug on default values being set wrong on seeding an account. Apologies for that; not sure if it’ll be fixed as there are other changes in the pipeline heavily affecting themes.

I understand if you all want to keep this as an unofficial “c’mon, let’s use common sense here” policy rather than amend Rule 9.
  • Add an exception for notable fuckups (so bad it’s good, WTF, probably not salmon, etc…), historical artifacts, and Dali-inspired surrealism.

Just call it tantabooru. references tantabus but still keeps the familiar ‘booru’ naming

From a quick glance at the rules I’m not sure I understand the purpose of this whole site or the split in general. It seems that:
A. There will still be policing of art quality on here (for some reason).
B. There will be generally no rate limit on posting.
If the original issue was increased workload on the derpi staff to gatekeep art then why would making a new site with less staff, which allows for even more art, be a solution to that? How is this in the interest of the community and not just an attempt by the derpi staff to offload the consequences of their own decisions onto another mod team? I find the idea of policing what people post frankly bizarre on both sites but especially on this one. I can post anything I want on DeviantArt or most other image boards. The voting system can decide what floats to the top or not. Why are we treating this and derpi like private art galleries run to the personal taste of mods and not freely shared community resources?

To me it looks like derpi team found it as most convenient way to get rid of content, which they don’t like and don’t want to deal with, regardless of if it will most likely not going to work properly in the future, since it was not their interest in the first place and their problem anymore.

A. There’re some bare minimum expectations on quality because we want to encourage better creations over pure slop.
B. If someone “spams” they’ll be asked not to, and moderated if they continue. We’re hoping for people to be sensible about these things and not just dump their latest batch of 150 generations all in one go.
If people want imgur for pony content then, well, imgur is right there.
@Background Pony #0B6C
Pretty much half the “derpi team” has auto1111 or comfyui set up, or an active (paying) civitai account, and are quite fond of using AI themselves. What they don’t like is people churning out low quality “slop” where they saw the big tits or ponut and didn’t care about the missing arm or second horn. Despite the tech getting far better, people overall have somehow gotten worse at realizing their gens are full of errors.
“But human made art also has errors and that gets a pass!”
ok 👍
Background Pony #0B6C
@Admin
Of course there are ones. AI images obviously are not going anywhere away from world now.
But I just don’t understand how someone can’t see some inconsistency with words and actions. On derpi there was already policies about AI images which avoided low quality images such as with obvious defects. Just don’t see how anyone can believe, that this will work decently here, when in the same time, by their own words, it wasn’t worked any good there already, even with much stricter policies with bigger team. At least because of that inconsistency it looks like majority of the team (who is more responsible for decisions) just wanted to somehow get rid of something they don’t like. Don’t saying they not in their rights, however. But kinda frustrating to be so obviously lied to like this in this community.
Sorry if I seemed to be rude. Didn’t have such intention.

If people want imgur for pony content then, well, imgur is right there.
Except by definition ‘imgur for pony content’ would be just that, a different site for pony content, not just imgur itself. If you want to moderate content here then so be it, I’m unclear on how there’s any hope of that succeeding here when the larger and more experienced staff at derpi failed at the exact same task though.
@Background Pony #0B6C
Honestly it feels like the derpi staff just wants to dumb the problem on someone else and hope it goes away. Of course it won’t, and this will just create more confusion and an overall worse experience for everyone, themselves included. They’re also deleting and banning people who disagree over in the announcement thread on their side. This whole thing is a mess.

The hope for here is that the site being new, its AI focus, and having an upfront set of visual examples will do most of the heavy lifting on their own, and when not, we have something fairly clear to point to instead of constant back and forth discussions with the affected uploader.
For derpi, the scale of the site makes it practically untenable. Barely anyone actually ever read the rules, every day multiple people far exceed the upload limit, and a high percentage of overall AI uploads present really egregious errors. Despite multiple mods spending most (if not all) of their time on the site just dealing with AI content, even after “hiring” more people, the amount of work just increased day after day.
Yes, a few people here and there saw the issues and worked to improve them. But those have been the minority, and for every prompter that gained an eye (or pride) for “quality”, or simply got the genning itch out of their system, three more would show up the next day.

And sorry myself if I’m being overly snippy; as you can imagine, it’s been “a day”.
Background Pony #97A4
@Admin
No you aren’t being snippy at all, I’m sure this is all a lot to undertake.
This page is the correct rule set for the site though, correct? I see this cuts two rules from the old derpi ones but this still seems rather extreme and a ton of effort to moderate. Are we just expecting this site to be that much less popular that it’ll be easier to moderate? Isn’t the idea for everyone who posted that mass of content on derpi to migrate here? It just feels like a recipe for disaster to move a growing problem to a smaller staff and expect them to somehow handle it with no additional tools or policy changes.

Yes, however please note the language is different; for derpi it’s a much clearer “pass/fail”, for here it’s “hey, look out for these sort of issues”, where too many, or some very bad ones, will likely lead to an image being removed.

Those guides are meant to help people understand what kinds of quality issues we most often see that result in deletions, and to show people examples of what we may have to talk with them about when they appeal deletions.
It’s not a set of rules, but a way for us to communicate with creators here.
As an example, someone’s image is deleted because of a ghost signature. With the guides I can refer them to the section that talks about ghost signatures, and answer their questions rather than having to type the explanation every time it comes up.
Background Pony #97A4
@Admin
So same rules but more lax enforcement. I feel like that’ll still generate the same amount of time spent going back and forth but you guys clearly have more time and experience with that sorta stuff. Wish you guys nothing but the best, just not sold on this whole plan myself.

Not really what I meant to imply… Just that by starting “fresh” the clear focus on content type will help and eventually build a “culture” of users naturally aiming for high quality.
On derpi there’s already “so much going on” that people just don’t care; it’s an effect that happens in every space, from websites to parties to videogames, the more people/activity and variety a place has, the less “pressure” a lot of people feel towards checking (or following) the rules/culture.
It’s my hope that over time this place will grow quite a bit, and I definitely don’t see the interest in AI waning any time soon.

I still don’t know why Derpi didn’t automate their two image limit. Website should stop someone from submitting third AI image instead of having admins delete excessive images after the fact. It could even queue the image to be auto-submitted later to stop people from circumventing the limit by omitting the AI tag (assuming that would even be a semi-common problem).

Considering Derpi mods’ complaints about prompters having zero clue on how to edit their generations, Tantabus could use a page containing links to image editing/inpainting guides. This would have a positive impact on stuff people will upload here. A ghost signature removal is a 5 minute job with the clone/patch tool in GIMP unless the sig is on a very busy/detailed part background. You have to know that though.

We’re hoping for people to be sensible about these things
Considering what Derpi mods said, good luck. :D
Thank you though for managing the site in your free time. I know I wouldn’t have the motivation, let alone time and energy.

But maybe that can be somewhat right. After all, I’m one of those not so interested too. Although I do enjoy good Ai generated images and I’m tried to play with generation before, I’m more used to draw by hand and unlikely will be regulars on exclusively AI oriented website. Maybe there will be more like me, than other. At least I hope so, tbh.
Background Pony #1920
@Background Pony #0B6C
You won’t be the only one. Quarantine sites are always less popular for obvious reasons. I suspect that’s the intention though. Very sad indeed. Maybe someone will find way to make some sort of front end that combines the two but I’m not holding my breath or going to two websites to get the same content I used to get from one.
Background Pony #0B6C
Btw, after recent conversation I personally think, that it would be much more honest if all AI content from derpi would be just deleted without creation of this site.
DroolingDreamer

I still don’t know why Derpi didn’t automate their two image limit. Website should stop someone from submitting third AI image instead of having admins delete excessive images after the fact.
Because some people make it so other people can’t have nice things. Quick circumvent just because I could see some people being petty about it: not adding the AI tag (doesn’t require any artist tag on upload, and could still put artist needed as placeholder), and placing the relevant tag after the fact. Quick way to juke it. Why someone would do this? Fuck knows. But I wouldn’t be surprised if someone did already.
It could even queue the image to be auto-submitted later to stop people from circumventing the limit by omitting the AI tag (assuming that would even be a semi-common problem).
A system that doesn’t exist yet that would have to e built from the ground up to work with the site is more work than just spinning up another site, I’d guess. Also relieves the [apparent] main site workload to work on the other non-AI content reports.
A ghost signature removal is a 5 minute job with the clone/patch tool in GIMP

@Background Pony #0B6C
I won’t lie: I’d rather there still be more AI porn content rather than barring it. The more overall content, the merrier.

Do you have an example post? The copy from derpi was only up to Saturday morning (euro time), so anything posted there over the weekend won’t have automatically made it over.
